Deaf Summit Details

“Enhancing Literacy Through Technology at Home and School”

Summit Information: A wonderful opportunity for parents and educators of deaf/hard of hearing children to meet and learn together. This Summit will bring togther parents and educators from Utah, Idaho, Montana, Arizona and Wyoming to meet and collaborate. All presentations, workshops and breakout sessions will address the topic “Enhancing Literacy Through Technology at Home and School”. This years focus will be on utilizing technology to support and encourage literacy growth in our students. As well as implementing curriculum and available apps at school and home for maximum benefit to the student. Parents will enjoy break out sessions specifically designed to give knowledge of technology available and how to carry on at home what is being implemented at home.   Breakout sessions will allow more in depth discussion of relevant topics.

Educational Interpreter Training: This year the Educational Interpreter Training will be held at the same location and time as the Summit. This will give everyone the opportunity to benefit from the great workshops planned for Educational Interpreters. The Summit will bring together Educational Interpreters from the mountain states to learn and address relevant questions through guest trainers and collaborative roundtable forums.

Hotel Information: Your room at the USDB Residential Cottages or Ben Lomond Hotel will be reserved for you as part of your registration fee. Please contact Laurie Rader (801) 629-4714 with any questions regarding arrangements. Please do not contact the hotel directly.

Transportation: Transportation to and from the airport will be provided. Transportation to and from Ben Lomond Hotel to USDB also provided. Please contact DeeAnn Sorenson 801-431-5101 with any special transportation requests. USDB will provide a bus from our SLC/JMS Campus to USDB Ogden Campus daily. USDB Staff are also encouraged to use the FrontRunner and a shuttle to campus will be arranged.

Food: Meals during the Summit will be provided with full registration. Meal tickets are also available for purchase on the day of the Summit. The cost will be $10 per meal, $25 for 3 meals, $50 for 6 meals.
